IP (Internet Protocol) - definition

IP is a unique address that allows identifying a device on the internet or a local network. It is used to send or receive data in between computer devices while connected to the internet. Without an IP address, there’s no way to get connected to a specific or target computer even though there is an established network connection. An IP address is a set of four (4) numbers separated by (.). The range of IP addresses is from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255.
The IP address changes if the network changes, i.e.: The IP address you’ll have in your home for your mobile device will be the same IP address if you’re using the internet from the airport or market.
There are three (3) major types of IP addresses, these are 1. Public IP address; 2. Private IP address & 3. Consumers' IP address. And there are two (2) types of public IP address which are: Dynamic IP address and Static IP address.
