D-Pad (Direction Pad) - definition

D-Pad stands for Directional Pad. A D-pad is often found in old or modern video games controller. It is a flat shaped element consists of directional button usually used for movement (Forward, Reverse, Left and Right) in the game play. In video games it is mostly an 8-directional button which helps the user to control the character in mentioned directions: Front, Rear, Left, Right, Front-Left, Front-Right, Rear-Left, Rear-Right. The button operation is digital nowadays, previously was analog oriented. It is also seen in TV remote and can be found in all other remotes of electronic/electrical appliances.
