IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) - definition

IMAP is a method of storing and retrieving emails from internet to server used by email clients. IMAP allows user to access to the email from anywhere or any devices. Usually user doesn’t have to download the email or store it on local device rather it is stored on cloud server provided by the company. The process of checking an email is quite faster in IMAP than POP3.
