Accessibility - definition

Accessibility is an offered feature by the operating system by the perspective designer or manufacturer to help people with disabilities to operate a website or use a smartphone device. More or less every smartphone nowadays comes with an Accessibility feature. It operates in multiple different ways such as if anyone is the device is playing a video or movie and the user is unable to hear any sound then it enables the user to see the subtitle, what’s being said in the video. Or if anyone is having difficulties with too small fonts or images then accessibility allows the user to enlarge the screen size in order to view in a much better way. Also, for users who can’t move their hand or finger specifically to operate a device then the device can be operated by voice only. There are few methods by using which the systems can be built:

Text to Speech: It converts the text in any website/web app or application to voice so that users who can’t see, can visualize the screen by hearing the speech and operating the device or system.

Speech to Text: Users who are unable to tap on the screen, can also type using this feature; it automatically converts any voice input to a text.

Voiceover: Some systems of devices can provide voiceover if the user moves the cursor into a specific field or box to help identify the system more easily.

Screen Zoom: If the user has any difficulties or has to struggle a lot to see the on-screen text because of font size then screen zoom can be used to enlarge the screen element and view it easily. This feature is also known as Magnifier.

Display Enhancements: Display enhancement is one of the most useful and proper tools to help people who have a color disability. The display color can be tuned in such a way so that the user can view the screen in a much better way and realize what’s going on the device's screen.
