GPRS - definition

GPRS stands for General Packet Radio Service. It is a packet oriented mobile data standard on the 2G and 3G cellular communication network’s global system for mobile communication. GPRS is classed as being a packet switched network whereby radio resources are only used when any data is being send or received. GPRS data speeds depend on the number of time slots available for use in either direction. These slots send and receive data, uplink or downlink.
