SMIL - definition
SMIL stands for Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language. SMIL is used to define, organize and synchronize the multimedia contents (i.e.: audio, video, pictures, etc.) for a website presentation or interaction, used by the website creators. It is Extensible Markup Language (XML) to define the timing, layout, transitions, and media embedding. There are several SMIL players such as Amarok, Adobe Flash Player, QuickTime Player, Totem, Windows Media Player, Garlic Player, etc.
