If you’re thinking about getting an iPhone 4S in 2020, then does it worth? Yes, of course but in few cases.
iPhone 4S was officialy first released in 2011, since then it was one of the most successful launch of an iPhone ever. This is the first iPhone which has Retina Display on it.
The pre-installed apps like Text Messages, iMessages, Call, E-Mail, Camera, GPS, Compass and some other apps have the best UI as this is an Apple device and very easy and satisfying to use. And one more interesting thing is there will be no lag using stock apps which are pre-installed with a iOS 9.3.5. Now let’s dig a bit deeper that all this.

CPU and GPU Performance: It has a dual core 1.0 GHz SoC on-board. The power of the A9 is still un beatable for some low budget cutting edge SoC. Plus the Graphics core is from PowerVR which was another beast in the field. At best iOS 9.3.5 can be installed in the phone. This version is still common for many applications on the AppStore but most of the applications are requiring iOS 10.0 or higher for better compatibility. So, this might be a barrier for the user in this timeline.
RAM & ROM: As iOS is mostly renowned for its optimization, so having a ROM of 32GB or more wouldn’t occur any big trouble but 16GB variant will be less in my opinion cause as there should be Photos and Videos on phone. And 1080p videos require tons of storage. But RAM is a sort of issue here if the user works on too much on 3rd party apps. May be in the background at best it can keep the data of one or two or let’s say three apps. If more than that appears to be come then all the apps will be restarting from first or it’ll become sluggish.
Camera: Now if we talk about the primary camera then it’ll still blow your mind. The 8 Megapixel camera sensor can snap a better shot any mid budget phone today. Usually I take a lot of photos and films all day long, so as per my opinion, this is still a best one in the price. Here some of the RAW photos I’m leaving so that you can check.
Power Backup: Now the main part has come. It has to be said that with a 1,432mAh battery it is really tough to manage all day long. But with the Apple’s intelligent power consumption it’ll serve the functional purposes at least.
Now the ultimate question is should you buy it or not?
First let’s talk about the current price. Currently, in the Amazon or other online marketplace a refurbished iPhone 4S can be traded only for $40-$60. There was no official version is available or any support for this model because they stopped manufacturing long time ago. So, if your purpose is using the device as regular phone then there is no comparison still in my opinion. Because Texting, Calling, Using internet, Reading newspaper, Mailing someone, Multimedia purpose, Chatting, and some other basic pre-installed apps are so amazing and best to use and still satisfying. So, my suggestion would be you should get that device if your purpose is very basic phone using otherwise it’ll not be a good choice if you are a heavy gamer.
