Between Huawei and Xiaomi, no one has had the privilege of being able to carry the distinctive red seal on a smartphone with a Leica camera lens. The only one who could have done it was the Leitz Phone 1, which is now being followed by the brand new Leitz Phone 2, the legendary photography house's second smartphone. Because Leica is not a smartphone manufacturer, it was produced by Sharp, who, as with the original model, has taken care of rebranding its current top of the line.
Leica launches the new Leitz Phone 2 initially in Japan
The Leitz Phone 2 has a well-furnished specification sheet, leading with the screen, which is a Pro IGZO OLED 10-bit panel, 6.6 ′′ QUXGA + (2730 x 1260 pixels) capable of reaching 2,000 nits of brightness and a well-240 Hz refresh rate, as well as compatibility for Dolby Vision, HLG, and HDR10. Aside from IP68 certification, a cherry on top is the Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor with a surface area 17 times greater than traditional faceID sensors in the screen. Theonly available color is called Leica White, and it has a limited version of the classic Leica M8 camera encircled by a knurled frame that improves grip, especially when shooting.
